The Sound of the Universe

Albareh Art Gallery presents a solo exhibition “The Sound of the Universe” by Palestinian artist Nasser Soumi. The official opening will be at Albareh Art Gallery tonight at 7pm. The exhibition will end on the 30th of April 2012.


Nasser Soumi, a Palestinian artist, is a painter and is primarily an installation artist. He transforms a variety of ordinary materials into works of art. The universe and its perpetual movement have often inspired Soumi who is currently residing in Paris. Nasser explains that his new body of works are driven by his intuition, attempting to express himself in order to understand his being and comprehend the universe.

Nasser Soumi was born in Palestine in 1948. He studied Fine Arts in Damascus and Paris. Since 1976, he participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, in Palestine, France, the Arab Region, Europe and in many cities around the world. His work has been shown at the Tokyo Museum, the Madrid National Museum, and the Paris Institute du Monde Arab, Tunis Museum of Modern Art, the French National Fund for Contemporary Art, the Paris Bibliotheque National, and the Baghdad National Museum. Soumi received many awards for his creative works, including the first prize at the Cairo Biennial, Egypt in 1996.
