In the past, the world was very uptight and societies were rigidly controlled, Art needed to be the antithesis of that rigidity. Nowadays when the shocking has become the mundane and every statement is laced with entitled didacticism I find myself balking away from anything that’s loud and in my face, Art included. This is why with this colorfield collection I strived for a quiet dynamism that stirs the emotions just enough but doesn’t overwhelm them. Here I was only concerned with the colors and the movements of the paints as they blended into each other. Painting these abstracts was very therapeutic and freeing. In a world where everything is shouted at us I wanted my work to be a serene moment of calm.
