Jamal AlYousif

Based in Bahrain, Jamal AlYousif is a contemporary artist whose practice centers on sculpture and visual arts that explore memory, place, and cultural identity. An active member of the Bahrain Art Society, he has established himself as a significant voice in Gulf contemporary art over the past three decades.

AlYousif's most prominent work is the outdoor sculpture "Family," permanently installed at Bahrain International Airport's Arrivals Terminal. This public commission exemplifies his ability to create work that resonates with both local and international audiences, positioning contemporary Bahraini art in a major public space.

His exhibition history reveals an artist deeply engaged with both regional and global art communities. Notable solo exhibitions include "Nostalgia" at Albareh Art Gallery (2019) and a 2018 show at Mashq Gallery, both exploring themes of memory and reflection. His consistent participation in the Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition and involvement in politically engaged group shows such as "Women in War, Palestine" (2024) and "Black/White/Green/Red" (2024) demonstrate his commitment to addressing contemporary issues through art.

International recognition has come through participation in Art Dubai (2020, 2023), exhibitions at the Middle East Institute in Washington, D.C. (2023), and inclusion in specialized forums including the Tokyo International Mini-Print Triennial (2015). His work is held in private collections across the Gulf region and New York.

Through his sustained practice and international presence, AlYousif has become an important figure in contemporary Bahraini art, creating work that bridges local cultural expression with global artistic discourse.
